Finding Pure Gold

Citizenship of Australia is like finding a huge seam of gold for your future. You will get many benefits but the most significant is the security for you and your family for the future, for ever.

Passports:

You get an Australian passport which makes travel throughout the world so much easier than many passports. Often you do not need to apply for a visa to many countries, you get it on arrival in these countries. They trust the Australian passport.

Australia allows you to retain citizenship of your home country if you wish. However you do need to be aware that some other countries will require you to relinquish citizenship of that country if you get Australian citizenship.

How do I get citizenship?

Getting path to citizenship is not easy. You first need to have a valid visa for Australia to arrive here, it can be temporary but must be valid. Then you need Permanent residency for a period of time. Once you meet the time periods of these you can then apply for citizenship. It is not too hard and a good Migration Agent can help you.

The citizenship test:

Hate exams or tests? You do have to pass the Australian citizenship test but you get a lot of help, sometimes in your own native language. In 2012 – 2012 over 71,500 people sat this test and over 70,700 passed it so it can’t be that bad. Occasionally people had to do it a second time but who cares, as long as you pass after another try. People from 196 countries sat this test in this year so you see, it needs practice but you can do it. We can help you practice the test.

What’s Best for You – Citizenship or Permanent Residency?

There’s a few things you need to know about Permanent Residency and Australian Citizenship to make your decision easier.

Check out these quick facts…

  1. Australian Citizenship is forever, Permanent Residency may NOT be.
  2. You only get an Australian passport if you are a citizen.
  3. Permanent Residents staying overseas for too long will have problems getting back into Australia.
  4. You can be a dual citizen of Australia and your home country (some countries have different rules about dual citizenship – you need to check with your home country).
  5. Kiwis arriving in Australia after February 2001 are Temporary Residents. Check this out!

Permanent Resident?

Did you know that Permanent Residency (PR) is not forever?  If you leave Australia even temporarily and you do not understand what your responsibilities are to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship you could lose the permanent status you worked so hard to get or have trouble returning here.

Even without citizenship there are ways to protect your PR status. Ask us now.

Do you qualify for Australian Citizenship?

Citizenship gives you permanent peace of mind, access to all the advantages and benefits that are available PLUS an Australian Passport for overseas travel. Generally you do not need to give up citizenship of your home country (this depends on that country, not Australia).
